Walton and Outskirts Art Festival is a brand new festival for 2011, happening in the village of Walton near Wakefield. Last month's celebrity guest that stayed with us was Jason Bradbury. Jason best known as the Host of Channel 5 "The Gadget Show", is joining Richard Branson and Ronan Keating's swimming team to swim the Irish Sea to raise funds for Cancer UK.

Lewis Samardzija and Gemma Fox from our Leisure team joined forces with other Wakefield Businesses to take part in a Dragon Boat race on Pugney's Lake on the 9th July 2011. The race was to raise funding's for Wakefield and Kirkwood Hospice. Congratulations to all who took part, I'm sure an enjoyable day was had by everyone.

David Attenborough choose Squire Waterton of Walton Hall who was an eccentric Englishman and gentleman who made many visits to South America and wrote about his travels as the topic of his Life stories Show in June.

His travel books are "amongst the oddest I know" David Attenborough tells us, written in an odd, almost biblical style. But nevertheless, these books are accounts of natural history two hundred years ago. Attenborough argues that Waterton shouldn't be just remembered for his writing. He should be credited with establishing the first nature reserve in this country. Appalled by the ravages of the industrial revolution's impact on the landscape, he built a wall around his estate to protect the wildlife - and free of charge allowed people to visit, which they did in their masses.

All members of staff were given the opportunity to have a day out at Pontefract Races on the 24th June 2011. The event was a big thank you from the Directors for everyone's hard work and loyalty last year. The sun shone from start to finish and even though there were no big winners everyone had a fantastic time.

This August the Leisure club challenges are all for the kids!

So all  leisure members who are children and love to swim, now is your chance to show how fast you are!
